» Chalkers Crossing Cabernet Sauvignon it's a winner

When it comes to wine shows, our Cabernet Sauvignon is taking off!  The 2003 Hilltops Cabernet Sauvignon won a Silver Medal in the Australia National Wine Show in Canberra and the 2004 Hilltops Cabernet Sauvignon collected a Gold! Qantas has chosen the 2004 Cabernet to celebrate the opening of the new First Class Lounge at Sydney Airport later this year.  It will also be offered to Qantas passengers travelling First Class in August 2007. You can buy the 2004 Cabernet now through our Cellar Door.

» A boost to our marketing team

Hazel Murphy has joined our team as marketing consultant to expand our presence in Europe and Canada. Hazel was responsible for many of the original marketing initiatives for the Australian Wine and Brandy Corporation's Wine Export Council in London. Her service to the Australian Wine industry has been formally acknowledged on a number of occasions. In 1996 Hazel was awarded the Order of Australia for Services to the Australian Wine Industry and the Australian Wine Industry’s Maurice O'Shea Medal and in 2004 Hazel was the inaugural Honorary Australian of the Year.
We are very happy that Hazel is working with us and welcome her to Chalkers Crossing.

» On the export trail

Our hard work to establish relationships with distributors around the world is paying off.

Canada
Ian Latchford, our General Manager - Marketing and Sales, has returned from a trip to Canada with new agents taking on Chalkers Crossing wines in Ontario and Quebec.
Hobbs & Co is a family run business which has been operating for over fifteen years in Ontario. Their goal is to provide exceptional wines to restaurant and private customers as well as obtain listings in the Liquor Control Board of Ontario stores.
Mosaiq Inc. Pierre Theriault and his Mosaiq sales team specialise in supplying premium quality wines from around the world to customers in Quebec.

Denmark
FinVin, owned by Finn Hetebrügge, has a great reputation throughout Denmark as a distributor of premium, estate grown wines from around the world.  FinVin is based in Odense where it is strategically placed to cover all of Denmark.

A new face for Chalkers Crossing in the UK
Great Western Wines has agreed to be Chalkers Crossing’s new sole agents in the U.K. This is excellent news for us, as Great Western Wines has a fabulous record of achievements in logistics, marketing and sales.  Building a reputation for Chalkers Crossing will be their objective with a focus on the ‘On Trade’ and independent retail markets. The U.K. is a tough market, however, we believe that working with Great Western Wines will achieve the results we're looking for.

Ireland
Superquinn Stores is representing Chalkers Crossing in Ireland – great news.  You’ll find our wines in Dublin, Kilkenny, Carlow, Clonmel, Dundalk, Waterford or Limerick.

» 2004 Pinot Noir

The 2004 Tumbarumba Pinot Noir is now available through our agents and the Cellar Door. The bouquet has a distinctive varietal character with a touch of spice. The palate is savoury and complex. The wine would complement food such as barbecued duck breasts, venison and soft cheeses.

» 2004 Shiraz

Due to unprecedented orders from both domestic and export markets we are releasing the 2004 Hilltops Shiraz a little earlier than usual.  This 2004 Shiraz is drinking well and will improve with cellaring.

Hot off the press from the June 2007 edition of Winewise Magazine: “Highly Recommended - A very stylish, intense, spicy, perfumed Shiraz which is richly flavoured and succulent. The fine tannins and gentle oak help create a seamless palate”.
